Fish + chips – fish + cheese. What could go wrong?

LET’S GET DOWN TO CHEESINESS
The chips you get in fish&chips shops are easily my favourite. Chunky, soft interior with a smooth, tender exterior. No force needed to bite through them, and every one is its own little pot of joy. Only skinny fries come close to delivering the same kind of greasy joy, but you need a handful of salted sticks to even match the experience.
Unfortunately, what was won in chip quality was lost in cheesiness. A handful of pre-grated cheddar was dumped on top and the bag given a good shake, but it’s at least much quicker than any restaurant would have managed.

The actual cheese/chips ratio ended up being pretty good – every chip had a decent portion of cheese on top, even if it took a moment to scoop around them. However, the pure cheddar was just a bit too salty (although that might have been down to me eating fistfuls at a time…) and the lack of any real meltedness made it feel more like chips with cheese than cheesy chips.
